Tom Craft joined the coaching staff at Palomar in 1977, and was made head coach in 1983 where he stayed until 1994. In his first 11 years as head coach for the Comets, Craft has coached 5 conference champion teams, 2 state champion teams, and 2 national champion teams. Craft then went on to SDSU from 1994-1996. There he helped lead the Aztecs to their first back-to-back eight win seasons since joining the Western Athletic Conference. Palomar was glad to see Craft return to coach at Palomar in 1997, where the Comets defeated Mt. San Jacinto College in the No Fear Bowl. One year later Craft lead the Comets to yet another national victory. In his time at Palomar Craft has coached 8 national junior college passing champions as well as 17 All-Americans two of whom are now coaching alongside him. Craft now lives in Valley Center with his wife Kathy and their three children, and we look forward to seeing him in action again this year.
